A clear request gives your freight specialist the details needed to review equipment, capacity and service options. Use this checklist before your next shipment.

1. Pickup and delivery locations
Include the city, state and ZIP code for both ends of the route. Mention any additional stops, facility access requirements and pickup or delivery appointments.
2. Dates and delivery requirements
Share when the freight will be ready, the pickup window and the required delivery date. Let your specialist know whether an appointment is already confirmed and which dates are flexible.
3. Commodity, weight and dimensions
Describe what you are shipping, the total weight and the piece count. Provide dimensions and units for the packaged freight, including pallets or crates. If a measurement is an estimate, make that clear.
4. Packaging and handling
Specify whether the shipment is palletized, crated, floor-loaded or loose. Include requirements such as liftgate service, inside delivery, straps, temperature control or multiple stops.
5. Equipment and special requirements
If you know the service or equipment you need, include it. If you are deciding between options, share the shipment details and ask your specialist to review them with you. For cross-border freight, identify the countries involved and your customs broker contact when available.
